MSTP Retreat 2009

 

July 31, 2009 and August 2-3, 2009

 

 

The 15th Annual MSTP Student-Faculty Retreat began on campus on Friday, July 31, 2009 with a poster session from 2:30-4:00 PM and wine and cheese reception in the Method Atrium, followed by the medical school Dean's Keynote address at 4:30 PM in Hughes Auditorium in the Lurie Building. The retreat continued on Sunday morning through Monday afternoon, August 2-3, 2009 at The Lodge at Geneva Ridge in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin, on the shores of beautiful Lake Como. The retreat provided time for MSTP students and faculty to gather in a relaxed setting, afforded opportunities to build community through scientific exchange (research talks and research poster presentation), professional development (faculty keynote speaker, alumna speaker), and a variety of activities, including swimming, biking, and hiking. Dr. Nupur Ghoshal NU MSTP Class of 2003) was the Alumna Speaker and Dr. Warren Tourtellottewais the MSTP Faculty Speaker at the 2009 Retreat.

Warren

Nupur Ghoshal, M.D., Ph.D., Instructor in Neurology at Washington University, was the Alumni Speaker at the 2009 MSTP Retreat.

 

Warren Tourtlellotte, M.D., Ph.D., Associate Professor of Pathology at Northwestern University, was the Faculty Speaker at the 2009 MSTP Retreat.

 



How to Get There

The Lodge at Geneva Ridge is 83 miles from Chicago (1.75 hour drive) and 4 miles from beautiful downtown Lake Geneva. The MSTP Student Council organized a ride-share for those who need transportation. Those who do have transportation volunteer to help with the ride-share.

The Lodge at Geneva Ridge also is accessible via commuter train (Union Pacific Northwest) to Harvard, Illinois from which a shuttle to the hotel is operated by the hotel (20 minute ride). Please call ahead to reserve a seat on the shuttle.

Driving Directions to the Lodge at Geneva Ridge from the Chicago Campus of Northwestern University

1. Drive north on I-90/I-94 North to I-94 West and then drive on I-94 W (Edens Expressway) toward Milwaukee.
2. Take the exit to Highway 50 West.
3. End at Lodge at Geneva Ridge, W4240 State Road 50, Lake Geneva, Wisconsin 53147, Tel 800-225-5558.
